Genzyme Care Coordination
Whether you or your child have just been diagnosed with Type 1 Gaucher disease and are exploring treatment with Cerezyme® or you are considering resuming treatment, Genzyme Case Managers are available to assess your unique situation and answer any questions you may have, including helping you understand your insurance options for treatment with Cerezyme. Our confidential services are offered at no cost to you and are completely voluntary.
Personalized Support
If you decide to take advantage of Genzyme’s Care Coordination services, you will have access to your own personal Case Manager, someone who will get to know you and will tailor his or her services to meet your specific needs.
Genzyme Case Managers are aligned regionally, so you will work with someone who is familiar with local resources and understands your state’s insurance regulations. Our Case Managers can also help you find treatment sites and medical experts in your area.
Working Together
Your Genzyme Case Manager will partner with you as you take the journey from diagnosis to treatment plan and help you navigate any bumps along the way. Working closely with you and your family, your health care providers and insurance company, your Genzyme Case Manager will help coordinate access to treatment with Cerezyme by providing:
- One-on-one, personalized support for you and your family members
- Information about treatment with Cerezyme and related insurance coverage
- Educational materials about Type 1 Gaucher disease
- Information about programs that may provide financial assistance for eligible applicants
- Access to other Genzyme resources

Indication & Usage
Cerezyme® (imiglucerase for injection) is indicated for long-term enzyme replacement therapy for pediatric and adult patients with a confirmed diagnosis of Type 1 Gaucher disease that results in one or more of the following conditions:
- anemia (low red blood cell count)
- thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet count)
- bone disease
- hepatomegaly or splenomegaly (enlarged liver or spleen)
Important Safety Information
Approximately 15% of patients have developed immune responses (antibodies). These patients have a higher risk of an allergic reaction (hypersensitivity). Use Cerezyme® (imiglucerase for injection) carefully if you have had an allergic reaction to the product in the past. Symptoms suggestive of allergic reaction happened in 6.6% of patients, and include anaphylactoid reaction (a serious allergic reaction), itching, flushing, hives, an accumulation of fluid under the skin, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, coughing, cyanosis (a bluish discoloration of the skin due to diminished oxygen), and low blood pressure.
Side effects related to Cerezyme administration have been reported in less than 15% of patients. Each of the following events occurred in less than 2% of the total patient population. Reported side effects include nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, fatigue, headache, fever, dizziness, chills, backache, and rapid heart rate. Because Cerezyme therapy is administered by intravenous infusion, reactions at the site of injection may occur: discomfort, itching, burning, swelling or uninfected abscess.
